The SEC Is About to Be Two People. 'Crypto Mom' Hester Peirce Just Quit, and Nobody Has Been Nominated to Replace Her

Hester Peirce posted her resignation letter on X with the caption 'T minus 7.' Her last day is October 2. After that the five-seat SEC will have two commissioners, Paul Atkins and Mark Uyeda, and under the agency's own quorum rule two votes are enough to pass anything. The commissioner who ran the Crypto Task Force is leaving to teach law, the CLARITY Act is dead, and the SEC is now the main place US crypto rules get made. Here's what that means for the industry and the people who work in it.
