Binance Blamed One Laptop. A Day Later It Found 'Additional Points of Breach', and the Hacker Had Been Rehearsing for 36 Hours
Day two of the $6.3B Binance hack. Binance has walked back the 'compromised laptop' story: its investigation has 'uncovered additional points of breach', and Richard Teng says it 'was not a single one-click action.' TRM Labs says the attacker funded a wallet through Tornado Cash on October 28, rehearsed on three wallets, and fired 50 pre-signed EIP-7702 authorizations in one transaction. The attacker still holds about $2.4B in ETH and BTC that no issuer can freeze. Binance has earmarked $6.34B to cover users but still has to buy about $1.3B of it.
